Screen Scrolling – Screen scrolling has also been added for widescreen mode. The game tells an epic story that blends magical realism with accurate historical accounts of 16th-century feudal Japan. Change between the two at any time in-game (Note: Some menus and screens are fixed at either 16:9 or 4:3.) Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny expands on the original title with larger environments to explore, new character interactions, enhanced swordplay, and more than twice the volume of animated movies. Widescreen Support and Display Options – Play using the original display ratio (4:3) or widescreen (16:9). Immerse yourself in the world of Onimusha and enjoy enhanced gameplay with improved graphics As it stands this remaster was a waste of money and an embarrassment in my opinion.įinal verdict: For me, it cries cash grab for fans of the series and is a major disappointment considering Capcom’s latest game releases.High-definition Graphics – Characters, background visuals, and cutscenes have been given a high-definition upgrade. If Onimusha Warlords had been given the same treatment as the Resident Evil 2 Remake then this would have been a fantastic game. The only improvement I’ve seen is the fact that you can use the dpad to utilise the original tank controls or use the analogue stick for standard controls in relation to the camera which again is a sticking point due to the camera angles being fixed and switching to a different camera zone can cause the controls to glitch and send you right back where you came from. Graphically the original pre-rendered backgrounds are still there and the ‘updated’ character models look embarrassingly pixelated compared to how they used to look, even the HUD and the menus are pixelated to hell compared to the original. All the improvements that were brought with the Xbox “Gemma” release are gone so it’s a major step back for the fans. It’s just a rerelease of the original ps2 version of the Onimusha Warlords with ‘updated’ (and I use that term extremely loosely) graphics. The game in question is Onimusha Warlords, the game born as a Japanese mythology version of Resident Evil which in turn gave birth to the well known and well liked Devil May Cry series.Īs such you’d expect Capcom to give this remaster a bit of TLC but from my experience with it all they’ve done is gone for a cash grab opportunity that fails to do anything to give the fans of the original or fans of Capcom in general either anything to look forward to or justice to the game series. Today we have a masterclass from Capcom on how not to do a remake/remaster.
